Alexander McCall Smith

Alexander McCall Smith is an internationally known British fiction writer. He was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe in 1948.

Academic Career

  • Studied at the Christian Brothers College in Bulawayo
  • Then moved to Scotland where he studied law at the University of Edinburgh
  • He was also a professor of medical law at the University of Edinburgh where he quite his position in 2005 to focus on his writing

He has also received an Honorary Degree of Doctors of Laws at the University of Edinburgh School of Law and is now Emeritus Professor.
